Benefits to Parents

Most programs focus their attention solely upon the child, leaving the adults to navigate the process of admissions and financial aid on their own. Not so with UPals. With a built in curriculum specifically for the parents or family guardians, we spread the experience to the whole family. Parents can benefit from UPals in the following ways:

• Parents are exposed to Federal and State programs for academic and financial support well in advance of when they might need it.
• Parents are given financial literacy and life skills reminders to balance the efforts toward college.
• Multiple pathways to college are discussed, as well as options for post secondary education locally or remotely.
• Educational advocacy strategies are discussed and encouraged.
• Parents see their sons and daughters interact with other "motivated" children and get to meet other "motivated" parents.
